PHIL-UNION FROZEN FOODS, INC. Conducts Mangrove Planting
  • On April 26, 2023, the employees from Phil-Union Frozen Foods, Inc. (PUFFI) successfully conducted their mangrove planting activity and were able to plant One Hundred (100) mangrove propagules in a coastal area in Barangay Luyang, Carmen, Cebu. 

 

  • The seafood manufacturing firm and PEZA locator tapped the help and assistance from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through Melvin Meredores, and Ms. Gladys Flores in the preparation and conduct of the said activity.

 

  • Ms. Gladys Flores educated the employees as to the environmental benefits of the mangrove planting activity and helped them identify as to the kind of propagule to plant and the proper location to plant them to ensure that they thrive and achieve positive long-term results.

 

  • Participating in the activity are eight (8) employees from the company comprised of three (3) employees from Admin Department, Two (2) from Sales and Impex Department, One (1) from Engineering and Maintenance Department, One (1) from Purchasing Department and One (1) from Accounting Department.

 

  • Ms. Flores demonstrated to the employees the proper way to plant the propagules to make sure that they will be able to survive. She also pointed out as to the specific locations where the employees should plant them.

 

  • Overall, the April 26 mangrove planting activity was a success. 

 

  • When asked about his thoughts regarding the activity, Mr. Kevin Dave dela Serna, Safety Officer IV and main facilitator and organizer of the activity, he said: “We look forward to having more activities similar to today’s mangrove planting activity. This is just the beginning of the many sustainability programs that Phil-Union Frozen Foods, Inc. has envisioned to implement as part of our corporate social responsibility and most definitely, as our way of giving back to the environment and to help build a safe and promising future for generations to come.”
